Assistant Coach

Biography:

Dear Parents and Players:

My name is Ryan McElroy and I am excited to be the new head coach for the boy’s soccer team at Mountain View High School.  This upcoming year will be my fourth year teaching social studies at MVHS.  This last year I was fortunate to be the MVHS assistant boy’s soccer coach.  For the last five to six years prior to 2013, I have been the assistant boy’s soccer coach as well as the head coach for girl’s soccer at Loveland High.  Before moving to Loveland, I was the assistant girl’s soccer coach at Coal Ridge High School for two years.  I have also been an assistant head coach for U18 competitive team in Rifle.

I am looking forward to building a successful boy’s soccer program at MVHS.  My goals this year are to have fun, be competitive, and show good sportsmanship on and off the field.  The expectation this fall, which all depends on numbers, is to have a varsity and full junior varsity.  We will be holding a parents meeting this fall to explain in detail my goals and expectations.  If you are going to be an upcoming senior, you can expect a call this summer to meet with me and help plan out goals for next season.

The biggest key for the summer and offseason is to get involved with either a soccer club, another sport, or come to some of the kick-arounds that I will start when the weather is no longer a factor.  Player’s need to be working in the weight room to build strength or honing their skills with the ball.  To be successful we need to continue practicing our soccer skills throughout the year.  If you are unable to participate in any of these activities come see me and I have a brochure that highlights some offseason exercises that you can follow.

In closing, please feel free to contact me anytime with questions and/or concerns.  I am very excited for this opportunity and look forward to meeting all of you this fall.  Thank you and have a nice summer.
